Gajapati District Citizens’ Association Celebrates Annual Day

Brahmapur,, July 29, 2026: The Gajapati District Citizens’ Association, formed by residents of Gajapati district living in Berhampur, celebrated its Annual Day with great enthusiasm at the Shaheed Laxman Nayak Memorial Hall in Berhampur on Wednesday.

The association comprises more than 300 families from Gajapati district who have settled in Berhampur. Every year, the association observes the birth and death anniversaries of Maharaja Krishna Chandra Gajapati of Paralakhemundi and also organizes its Annual Day celebration along with a community picnic.

The annual function was presided over by the Association President, Dr. Ramakrishna Dash. Prof. Debi Prasad Mishra attended as the Chief Guest, Dr. Bayaman Charchi was the Chief Speaker, and noted poet Bipin Nayak graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.

The programme commenced with the recitation of Sanskrit hymns by Dr. Ramachandra Rath, followed by the presentation of the annual report by Er. Tirthabasi Panda, the association’s Secretary.

A two-minute silence was observed to pay tribute to members of the association who had passed away during the past year, followed by remembrance of their contributions.

On the occasion, the association felicitated its senior members Er. Sadananda Padhi, Dr. Sudhir Chandra Suar, and Er. Rabindra Mishra with citations and mementoes in recognition of their contributions.

The event also featured colourful cultural performances presented by children and family members of the association. In addition, six members of the association celebrated their birthdays, during which they were presented with bouquets and mementoes, and a cake-cutting ceremony was held to extend birthday greetings.

Nearly 100 families of the association participated in the annual celebration, making the event a memorable gathering that strengthened the bond among the Gajapati community residing in Berhampur.
