Rayagada, July 14: In a significant anti-corruption development, Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of one Ex-JE, O/o ASCO, Gunupur, Rayagada, in a DA case. Ashok Kumar Padhy, Former Junior Engineer (JE), office of Asst. Soil Conservation Office(ASCO), Gunupur, Dist-Rayagada (Retired), who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) of PC Act, 1988 for possessing disproportionate assets (DA), was convicted by Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance Brahmapur and sentenced to undergo simple imprisonment for a period of 3 years and to pay fine of Rs.1,00,000/-.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Padhy, following his conviction. Aswini Kumar Nayak, Ex-Inspector, Vigilance, Brahmapur Division had investigated the case and Surendra Panda and Sumit Nayak, Spl. PPs, Vigilance, Brahmapur jointly conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
