Divyang Seva Kendra of SAKSHAM Rayagada resolves to function decentralised

Rayagada, June 30: Samdrushti, Kshamata Vikas Evam Anusandhan Mandal (SAKSHAM) Odisha(Paschim), an outfit of a national entity situated in Nagpur has its district unit in Kasturi Nagar, Rayagada. It works towards empowerment of 21 types of Dibyangs as identified by GoI. On the eve of its foundation day, Divyang Seva Kendra(DSK) founded by SAKSHAM, Rayagada has resolved to take up various activities in a decentralised manner to take care of scarcity of funds,

The decentralised mobile initial eye testing camps will continue at least one per month in collaboration with agencies like JK Paper Mills Ltd(JKPM) and LV Prasad Eye Institute(LVPEI) at Pitamahal. After final testing at LVPEI,  free spectacles and free operation are facilitated by JKPM. Other complicacies will be referred to District Headquarters Hospital(DHH) and other special hospitals. DSK will build alliance with several Divyang Institutions like Odisha Vikalanga Manch-District unit, Rayagada Bhinnakhyam Mahasanga, Maa Kulobanndha Bhinnakhyam Mahasanga, Dandakaranya, etc & help them to organise their programmes. It will continue to facilitate building relationships with several govt departments and corporates like Vedanta, Utkal Alumina, JK Paper Mills, Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys (IMFA), etc.

Members and office bearers of SAKSHAM through DSK will continue to be present during PwD identification camps at DHH twice in a month. It will facilitate smooth running of the camps & help solve immediate issues of the attendees. Serve with water and snax to the Divyang children. As a part of its empowerment strategy, DSK will continue advocating the rights of differently abled persons in accessing several govt schemes like appliances, loans, housing, travel concessions, etc. Advocate to adhere to the Disability Act-2016. Rayagada has 2556 habitations. Within current financial year, it is proposed to have same number of Divyang Mitras, at least one from each village.

Within this financial year, it is proposed to have minimum furniture & fixtures, minimum kitchen utensils, a computer system, a broadband internet, a 2nd hand two wheeler, a 2nd hand four wheeler, etc. In collaboration with Child Welfare Committee, Rayagada and DSSO, it shall emphasise education of the disabled children, especially minor. But will also work on higher education. DSK will help document the programmes conducted by Divyang Institutions of the district. It will collect data from secondary sources and compile. Compile press clippings. Administer related WhatsApp groups, Facebook & Twitter, etc. Organise press meets & attend outstation meetings and conferences. Meet and liaise concerned govt, pvt authorities.

The meeting was attended by divyang representatives from various blocks, divyang mitras, care givers and office bearers of SAKSHAM namely Shyam Sundar Das, Bidya Bhusan Panda, Vidya Sagar, Jalandhar Bacheli, Rabindra Patakhandal, Bijay Kumar Das & others.
