BERHAMPUR; 21/06 : Demonstrating exemplary compassion, social responsibility and dedication towards animal welfare, animal lover and journalist Lalatendu Choudhury played a crucial role in ensuring timely medical treatment for a seriously injured cow, giving the animal a renewed chance at survival.
According to reports, the cow was severely injured after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near the National Highway on the Haladiapadar-Ralab road. The animal was found lying by the roadside in a critical condition, bleeding profusely and struggling in pain.
Journalists Bibhuti Satpathy and Ramesh Chandra Behera, who happened to be passing through the area, noticed the distressed animal and immediately took steps to seek assistance. Although they initially contacted the concerned helpline services, prompt support was not forthcoming. They subsequently reached out to Mr. Choudhury for help.
Upon receiving the information, Mr. Choudhury promptly coordinated with officials of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department and facilitated immediate medical assistance. Acting swiftly, a veterinary team arrived at the spot, administered first aid to the injured cow, and later shifted the animal to a veterinary hospital for further treatment.
The incident has been widely appreciated by local residents, who described Mr. Choudhury’s efforts as an inspiring example of compassion and civic responsibility towards helpless animals. Citizens noted that such timely intervention not only saved a life but also underscored the importance of collective sensitivity and action in animal welfare.
