CEO Odisha Senior Officers Review SIR Progress Across Districts to Ensure Error-Free Voter Lists

Bhubaneswar, July 24, 2026: In a proactive initiative to ensure a clean, transparent, and error-free electoral roll, senior officials from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Odisha, are conducting extensive field visits across various districts to monitor the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

With July 1, 2026 fixed as the qualifying date for the revision, the SIR exercise is progressing across the state. To expedite the process and eliminate discrepancies, the CEO’s office has deputed senior officers to undertake on-ground inspections from July 20 to July 29, 2026.

On Thursday, the review teams visited several districts. Finance Consultant Sanjay Kumar Lugun reviewed the progress in Sundargarh, Deputy CEO Dr. Lakshmi Prasad Sahu visited Kendujhar, Assistant CEO Premananda Jena inspected Kalahandi, Assistant CEO Pradeep Murmu reviewed Angul, while Deputy Secretary Dinamani Naik conducted inspections in Jajpur district.

During their visits, the officers closely examined post-draft publication activities, including the disposal of claims and objections, voter registration, issuance of statutory notices, and the timely hearing and settlement of cases. They also held detailed interactions with District Election Officers (DEOs), Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), BLO Supervisors, and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to assess the progress of the revision exercise and address operational challenges at the grassroots level.

Special emphasis was laid on polling booths and Assembly constituencies where the processing of forms and disposal of claims and objections had experienced delays. The teams also carried out sample inspections of ERO and AERO offices to evaluate workflow efficiency, record maintenance, and adherence to Election Commission guidelines.

Upon completion of the district visits, the officers will submit detailed reports and recommendations to the Chief Electoral Officer, Odisha. Based on these findings, the CEO’s office is expected to initiate immediate administrative and technical interventions wherever necessary to ensure the revision process remains transparent, efficient, and time-bound.The ongoing monitoring exercise reflects the Election Commission’s commitment to preparing an accurate and inclusive electoral roll, thereby strengthening the democratic process and ensuring every eligible citizen has the opportunity to exercise their
