Brajsunder elected as President of Rayagada Bar Association

Rayagada, March 29: Rayagada Bar Association elections was held last Saturday. Senior advocate Brajsunder Nayak has been elected as President. He defeated his nearest rival lawyer Birja Patra by 19 votes. Brajsunder Nayak got 105 votes while Birja Patra got 86 votes. 191 lawyers voted in this election.
Except the post of President , all other positions were declared won as uncontested. Susanta Khosla as Vice President, Ramesh Kumar Padhi as Secretary, Subhra Kanti Behera as Joint Secretary and Bismay Patnaik as Treasurer were elected unopposed.
Advocate Umakant Mishra conducted the election as Election Officer. Lawyer Y. Srihari, Lawyer Sonu Pradhan, Lawyer Rajat Ranjan Khatua assisted as Co-Election Officers. Ex-President Devi Patnaik handed over the charge to the new President Brajsundar Nayak. Nayak, well known public figure, also earlier officiated as Rayagada Bar President, Vice-Chairperson of Rayagada Municipality and government pleader.
In this election, Lawyer Binayak Kar played a prominent role. Rayagada denizens expect some systemic change in the court premises to facilitate a smooth working environment and conducive atmosphere pertaining to common people commuting for court cases. Congratulations have been extended to the newly elected office bearers from various quarters.
