Brahmapur Sadar Police Intensify Crackdown on Illegal Liquor Trade ;Three Detained

Brahmapur, Oct. 1: Brahmapur Sadar Police intensified their crackdown on the illegal sale and possession of liquor, conducting excise raids in the Goutami area on September 30, 2026. During the special drive, police registered three separate cases, arrested three persons and seized a total of 25.70 litres of IMFL and OS liquor.

The raids were conducted by SI J.P. Sahoo and his team during routine patrolling and excise enforcement operations in the Dengapadar, Narayanpur and Goutami areas, based on reliable information.

The seizures were made from the Goutami-Bhuduki roadside area, approximately 28 km west of Brahmapur Sadar Police Station.

Case-wise Details

1. Brahmapur Sadar PS Case No. 608/2026

At around 12:05 PM, police detected K. Balaji Patra (35),  of Village Goutami under Brahmapur Sadar Police Station.

Police seized a total of 9.60 litres of liquor, comprising:

6 cans of Tuborg Beer, 500 ml each

8 bottles of Kingfisher Storm Beer, 650 ml each

20 pouches of OS Liquor, 200 ml each, marked as Pattapur OS Shop

A case was registered under Section 52(a) of the Odisha Excise Act, 2008. The accused was arrested at 3:45 PM on September 30 and forwarded to the competent court.

2. Brahmapur Sadar PS Case No. 606/2026

At around 12:25 PM, police detected S. Sankar Reddy (27),  of Goutami village.

Police seized a total of 9.70 litres of IMFL, comprising:

10 bottles of Kingfisher Strong Beer, 650 ml each

2 bottles of Budweiser Beer, 650 ml each

2 cans of Tuborg Beer, 500 ml each

2 bottles of Bacardi Mango Chilli Rum, 180 ml each

3 bottles of McDowell’s No.1 Whisky, 180 ml each

A case was registered under Section 52(a) of the Odisha Excise Act, 2008. The accused was arrested at 3:30 PM and forwarded to the competent court.

3. Brahmapur Sadar PS Case No. 607/2026

At around 12:45 PM, police detected Trupti Bhusan Sahu (42), of Goutami village.

Police seized 32 pouches of OS Liquor, 200 ml each, totalling 6.40 litres. The pouches were marked as Pattapur OS Shop, with the licensee identified as Barun Ku. Pradhan.

A case was registered under Section 52(a) of the Odisha Excise Act, 2008. The accused was arrested at 3:40 PM and forwarded to the competent court.

Police Action

All three accused persons were arrested after observing the prescribed arrest procedures and formalities, as laid down by the Hon’ble Supreme Court.

Brahmapur Sadar Police stated that enforcement action against the illegal liquor trade will continue as part of their ongoing efforts to curb unlawful liquor-related activities in the area.
