Brahmapur Sadar Police Arrest Man in Assault and Murder Threat Case at Lathi

Brahmapur, 21/09/2026: Brahmapur Sadar Police have arrested a 38-year-old man in connection with an alleged assault and subsequent death threat incident at Lathi village under Brahmapur Sadar Police Station.

According to police, the incident occurred on September 7, 2026, at around 10:30 AM, when the complainant was passing along the Harijana Sahi road in Lathi village. Following a minor dispute, the accused allegedly assaulted him with a bamboo stick, causing a bleeding injury to his left ear.

The injured person was subsequently treated at MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Brahmapur.

Police further stated that on September 10, at around 8:00 AM, the accused allegedly went to the victim’s residence, abused him in obscene language and threatened to kill him.

Based on the victim’s complaint, Brahmapur Sadar Police registered Brahmapur Sadar PS Case No. 575/2026 under Sections 126(2), 115(2), 109, 296 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and took up an investigation.

During the investigation, police seized the alleged weapon of offence, a bamboo stick.

The accused was identified as Samir Das @ Budu Das (38), son of Durjyadhan Das, a resident of Bauri Sahi, Lathi, under Brahmapur Sadar Police Station.

Police arrested Samir Das on September 21, 2026, at around 10:30 AM, and subsequently forwarded him to the Hon’ble Court.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
