BMS celebrates foundation day with mass plantation drive

Rayagada, July 27: Massive plantation drive was dovetailed with observation of the 72nd foundation day of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh(BMS), which was celebrated with great pomp and ceremony at the Senior Citizens’ Association Office in Gayatri Nagar, Rayagada. On this occasion, as per the decision of the Sangha, saplings of amla, bel, lime, jackfruit, guava and other medicinal plants were planted at Prem Pahad and Dumaguda village. Later, the program began with the hoisting of the flag of the BMS-largest workers’ union, lighting lamp before the photo of Bhagwan Vishwakarma, Bharat Mata and the founder of the BMS, Dattopant Thengadi, and recital of a labor song by the sisters present in the assembly. 

The guests of the program were social worker Rashtriya Swayam Sevak Sangh affiliated SAKSHAM State Mentor and State President of Odisha Union of Working Journalists(OUWJ) Dr.Badal kumar Tah, labor leader and state vice-president of the BMS Yogeshwar Das, Rayagada District Special Development Council(SDC) Vice-President Manjula Miniyaka, State executive member Arun Lenka, women leader Jayanti Padmalaya Sahu, Gitanjali Hial, Mamata Biswal, Sameer Khara, who had different political views to protect the interests of the labourers. Jayanti and Gitanjali eulogised evolution of BMS in India. In independent India, many labor organizations were formed; but keeping away from alien political ideology, keeping in mind the Indian ideology for the benefit of the workers, a non-political labor organization that has been at the forefront of the nation-building process to solve all the problems of the workers and to be with them, has taken the first place in the whole country and is now celebrating its 72nd anniversary, they said. 

More than 500 activists from all the labour organizations affiliated to BMS participated in the program. The entire program was moderated under the leadership of BMS District Secretary Ganesh Kumar Sahu, District President Mahan Rao Majhi, District Working President Dharma Singh Nag, Vice President Durga Madhav Ghosh, Tamal Sahukar, Neha Singh, Niranjan Nathi, Paramananda Pradhan, Tapan Kadraka, Pratap Sahu, Sundar Rao Kadraka. The District Treasurer of the BMS Usharani Dash thanked all the workers present for the program.
