Block-Level Sports Meet 2026 Held at NTPC Kaniha

“Kaniha, 1 October 2026: The Block-Level Sports Meet 2026 was successfully held at the premises of NTPC Talcher-Kaniha on 1 October 2026, witnessing enthusiastic participation from nearly 500 students of around 100 govt schools representing 4 zones of Kaniha Block.


The sports events were organized in Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Cricket, Badminton, Chess and Yoga across the U-14 and U-17 Boys and Girls categories, providing young students an opportunity to showcase their sporting skills.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Shri Ajay Singh Yadav, Head of Project NTPC Kaniha, in the presence of Shri Priyaranjan Pradhan, Block Education Officer; Shri Ramkrishna Pradhan, Kaniha Block Chairman; Shri Tribikram Kumura, Block Development Officer; Shri Navneet Kumar, Head of HR, NTPC Kaniha; Smt Sujita Rath, AGM (HR); Shri Pankaj Kumar Choudhury, AGM (HR) along with other dignitaries and officials.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Yadav highlighted the importance of sports in everyday life and their role in fostering teamwork, discipline, determination and willpower among students. He expressed his pleasure for being part of the event and NTPC Kaniha’s association with the initiative through its CSR support towards promoting sports and the holistic development of students in the neighbouring communities.
Throughout the day, the participating students displayed remarkable enthusiasm, sporting spirit and discipline while competing in their respective events.
The closing ceremony, held later in the day, was graced by Shri Ashok Mohanty, Hon’ble MLA, Pallahada; Smt. Madhusmita Nanda, acting In-Charge District Education Officer and Shri Ajay Singh Yadav, Head of Project NTPC Kaniha, along with other dignitaries and officials.
During the closing ceremony, the dignitaries distributed medals and certificates to the winners and congratulated the students for their spirited participation and performances. Hon’ble MLA Pallahada highly appreciated the wholehearted support provided by NTPC Kaniha for the smooth conduct of the meet.
The winners will now advance to the district level, carrying forward the spirit of sportsmanship. Held at NTPC Kaniha for the first time, the meet was supported through CSR, reinforcing NTPC Kaniha’s commitment to promoting sports and youth development.”
