Berhampur University to Host “UMANG-2024” – East Zone Youth Festival

Berhampur,(Bureau, odishabarta ) Odisha – February 13, 2024 – Berhampur University is proud to announce its role as the host for the much-anticipated 37th Inter-University Youth Festival, “UMANG-2024.” Scheduled to take place from February 16th to 20th, 2024, UMANG-2024 promises to be a vibrant celebration of culture, talent, and camaraderie, drawing thousands of young artists from across the East Zone.

Under the patronage of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), UMANG-2024 aims to promote cultural heritage, values, and social responsibility among students while providing a platform for them to showcase their talents and interact with peers from various universities and colleges.

The festival will feature various events spanning multiple categories, including Classical Vocal Solo (Hindustani/ Karnataka), Classical Instrumental Solo (Percussion-Tal Vadya), Classical Instrumental Solo (Non-Percussion-Swar Vadya), Light Vocal (Indian), Western Vocal (Solo), Group Song (Indian), Group Song (Western), Folk Orchestra, Western Instrumental (Solo), Folk/Tribal dance, Classical Dance (Indian), and theatrical competitions such as one-act plays, skits, mime, mimicry etc. Literary enthusiasts will engage in competitions like quizzes, debates, and elocutions. Fine arts will be showcased through on the spot painting, rangoli, mehendi, installations, clay modelling, cartooning, spot photography, poster making, and collage competitions.

Participating universities from across the East Zone include Ranchi University, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Binod Bihari Mahto Koyalanchal University, Vinoba Bhave University from Jharkhand; Sambalpur University, Khallikote Unitary University, Fakir Mohan University, Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanja Deo University, Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, Utkal University of Culture, and the host university, Berhampur University, from Odisha; Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University from Bihar; and Jadavpur University, Viswa Bharti University from West Bengal.. Around 600 participants and 25 team managers will be the part of the event.

Prof. Geetanjali Dash, Vice-Chancellor, expressed excitement about hosting UMANG-2024, stating, “UMANG-2024 is not just a festival; it is a celebration of the rich culture of our nation. We are thrilled to welcome talented youth from across the East Zone and provide them a platform to showcase their skills, exchange ideas, and build lifelong connections.”
