Baidyanathpur Police Arrest Accused in House Trespass and Attempted Arson Case

Brahmapur, Sept 28: Baidyanathpur Police have arrested a 43-year-old man in connection with an alleged incident of house trespass, assault, damage to two motorcycles and an attempt to set the vehicles on fire at RDC Colony, Ankuli, Brahmapur.
The arrest was made after the accused allegedly failed to comply with a notice issued under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), police said. He was subsequently forwarded to the competent court.
According to the case details the accused has been identified as Srinivas Gouda, 43. He was apprehended at about 11.45 PM on September 27, 2026.
The case was registered at Baidyanathpur Police Station under Sections 74, 115(2), 296, 324(5), 333 and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), dated September 24, 2026.
What Police Allege
Police said the complainant, Laxmipriya Gouda, 23, of RDC Colony, Ankuli, reported that the accused allegedly suspected that his estranged wife was staying at her residence.
According to the police version, he allegedly scaled the boundary wall and entered the house without permission. When family members informed him that his wife was not there, he allegedly abused them using obscene language and assaulted the complainant, causing an injury to her leg.
The police further alleged that the accused threatened the family members and damaged two motorcycles parked in the courtyard, bearing registration numbers OD 07 X 6677 and OD 07 AA 0809. He also allegedly attempted to set the vehicles on fire.
Police Investigation
Following the complaint, police said they visited the spot, prepared a spot map and seized the damaged motorcycles as part of the investigation.
Statements of witnesses were recorded under Section 180 BNSS, while the injured complainant was sent to City Hospital, Brahmapur, for medical examination.
Acting on information received by the police, the accused was subsequently apprehended, police said.
The arrest and case details have been provided to the media through the police press-release mechanism following the assumption of charge by the new Superintendent of Police Brahmapur police leadership.
The allegations against the accused are subject to investigation and judicial proceedings. His guilt or innocence will be determined by the competent court.
