Ama Nrutya Ama Sanskruti’ at Utkal Aluminato celebrate rich Indigenous Artistry of Odisha

Bhubaneswar, (Bureau, Odishabarta ) 18/2/24 : Utkal Alumina International Limited, a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries Limited of Aditya Birla Group is committed to preserving and promotingculture of the local tribal folk dance forms of Odisha. The 12thedition of the Ama Nrutya Ama Sanskruti which started 2012 by the CSR of Utkal Alumina was organised on 12th& 13th February 2024 at Nuapada Township (Helipad Ground) showcasing the rich tapestry of Odia culture.
The first day of Ama Nrutya Ama Sanskruti witnessed participation of 28 teams hailing from surrounding villages in the Tribal Dhimsa Dance Competition. Dhimsa is a traditional folk dance of tribal people of Southern Odisha.On the second day, famous folk-dance forms such as Odissi, Ranapa, Chau, Sambalpuri and Paika were performed by renowned artists from across Odisha.
Chief Guest, Mr Dilip Bisoi, State Information Commissioner, Bhubaneswar, inaugurated the program on the first day in the presence of Guest of Honor, Mr Bishnu Charan Patra, Additional Superintendent of Police, Guest of Honour, Mr Kantha Majhi, Block Chairman, Kashipur and Mr Mazhar Beig, Unit Head & President of Utkal Alumina & Aditya Alumina.
Appreciating the contribution of Utkal Alumina towards the prosperity of its operating region, Mr Dilip Bisoi said, “The commitment of Utkal Alumina for driving socio-economic development in remote areas through sustainable industrialisation initiatives has resulted in creating employment opportunities, improving infrastructure, and enhancing the quality of life for the local communities. Ama Nrutya Ama Sanskruti seems like anannualcelebration for unlocking the potential of this tribal hinterland”.

On the second day, Mr Bhaskar Raito, Additional District Magistrate, Rayagada, attended the program as Chief Guest while Ms Kalyani Sanghamitra Devi, Sub-Collector & SDM, Rayagada, Mr Dilip Bisoi, State Information Commissioner, Bhubaneswar, Mr Basanta Pradhan, District Information & Public Relation Officer, Rayagada, Ms Anusaya Majhi, Chairman SC & Development Council, Rayagada, Kashipur graced the occasion as Guest of Honour in the presence of Mr SK Mishra, Chairman, Utkal Alumina and Mr Mazhar Beig, Unit Head & President, Utkal Alumina & Aditya Alumina.
The second day began with the felicitation of outstanding performers of the Tribal Dhimsa Dance Competition. The esteemed panel of judges, comprised of Ms Hina Beig, President, Ujjwal Utkal Ladies Club, Mr Jyotirmayi Barik, acclaimed Odissi Dancer, Mr Dheeraj Mohanty, Music & Dance Teacher, Aditya Birla Public School.
Spellbinding the judges, Team Thutibar emerged as the winner while Team Bagrijhola performed at par and bagged the runners-up trophy followed by Team Andirakanch which bagged the second runners-up.
Ms Hina Beig congratulated the winner and encouraged the participants saying, “From the intricate choreography to the emotive expressions, you transported us to the world of beauty, emotions, and cultural richness.Through your art, you not only entertained but also educated and inspired us.”
Mr Bhaskar Raito, lauded Utkal Alumina for celebrating the vibrant cultural mosaic of Odisha saying, “This event is a feast for the senses, presenting a kaleidoscope of traditional & tribal dance forms that have been cherished for generations”.
The event was organised by the relentless efforts of entire CSR team led by Ms.Niharika Sahoo, GM, CSR(Plant), Ms. Lopamudra Mishra FH-CSR & Mr.Bijaya Kumura, Unit HR Head and Mr. Manoj Das AGM CSR (Mines) which made the event a resounding success.
