Panther CrickFest 2019: Team Extreme Made it Again

Angul,03/12/19:The mega cricket tournament organised by Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) CricFest 2019 has been concluded on December 2nd, 2019 evening. Team Extreme comprising players from SMS, DRI, LDP and Oxygen Plant of JSPL won the Champion’s Trophy for the second consecutive year. It defeated Team Josh comprising players from CGP, RMHS, Logistics and Coal Washery by 15 runs. JSPL’s Executive Director Maintenance Mr. Suresh Kumar graced the final match of the tournament as Chief-Guest and presented the trophies in presence of JOC General Secretary & Head Iron Making Zone Mr. Damodar Mittal, Head HR & ES Mr. Alok Malhotra, Head CGP Mr. A.N. Tiwari, various others department heads, inhabitants of Jindal Nagar and villager from the periphery villages. 

After winning the toss, Extreme Team opted to bat first and set a target of 82 runs for Team Josh to win in a 10 over match. Team Josh could manage to make only 66 runs by losing 8 wickets. 

Mr. Raj Sahi of team Extreme was declared Man-of-the-Match, Best Batsman of the tournament and Man of the Tournament for his splendid performance of making 19 runs and claiming 4 wickets in 2 overs by giving only 10 runs in the final match, making 200 individual runs in the tournament and achieving highest overall points of 56.52 in the tournament, respectively. Mr. Ambrish Abhijan was adjudged as the best bowler of the tournament for claiming 14 wickets in 7 matches.

Distributing the trophies, Mr. Suresh Kumar, appreciated the efforts of Jindal Officer’s Club and wished the players and departments of JSPL to understand the strength of togetherness, how the individual effort of every player contributes to the success.

This Eleven-day long cricket tournament played under flood-light was organised by the Jindal Officer’s Club (JOC) Angul.  All the departments of JSPL participated with their best players in this Cricket Extravaganza which was inaugurated by the Chief Operating Officer of Odisha Business Mr. Pankaj Gautam on 21st Nov, 2019 evening. Total 21 matches were played in the tournament, which was successfully managed by JOC Sports Committee under the active guidance of Mr. Damodar and Mr. Ashish Pandey (AVP, JSPL & Joint General Secretary of JOC).
