AITA-OTA MENS TENNIS TOURNAMENT AT GURUKUL RESORTS TENNIS COMPLEX

Bhubaneswar:On 23th December Gurukul Resorts had it’s Opening Ceremony for AITA OTA Gurukul 1 Lakh Men’s Tennis Championship Sponsored by Department of Sports and Youth Services, Govt of Odisha.

The Ceremony was a bit different than the other opening ceremonies of sports event. For the 1st time in Odisha Tennis has been used as an tool for Inclusion.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr Sruti Mohapatra, CEO, Swabhiman, State Disability Information and Resource Center addressed all the national level players and told them the importance of inclusion in every field.

Chinmay Pradhan, Director, Gurukul Resorts and Centre head of Rural Inclusive Child Resource Centre supported by Swabhiman also addressed the players about the work of inclusion in disability sector done through Lawn Tennis at Mendhasal,Bhubaneswar. 

He announced the trophies and mementoes presented to the winners will be replaced by Handmade art work done by differently able people and support the cause of Swabhiman towards Inclusion through Sports.

Cheif Referee of the tournament Jatin Batsya also helping us towards Inclusion as he is training Ms. Rajalaxmi Behera, for officiating in All India Tournaments and she would become the First women on wheelchair to be an official Chief Referee in the AITA circuit.

Tournament Director, Pradeep Pradhan also addressed the gathering and requested all the players to take part and support the cause of Inclusion. 

The opening ceremony of this AITA tournament is one of it’s kind working towards the idea of an Inclusive world. Total no. of participants are 44 from 13 different states namely West Bengal,Jharkhand,Madhya Pradesh,Maharashtra,Gujarat,Tamil Nadu,Telangana,Andhra Pradesh,Delhi,Haryana,Punjab,Uttar Pradesh and host Odisha. This tournament will continue till 27th December’19(Friday)
