Golanthara Police Crack Community Hall Theft Case; Stolen Music Set Recovered, Five Arrested

Brahmapur, Oct. 6:  Acting in a tip-off the Golanthara Police have cracked a community hall theft case at Daspur village and arrested five persons, including two alleged receivers of the stolen property. Police also recovered the stolen sound box, valued at around  Rs.20,000.

Notably,  the law Speak  theft material the seller and buyer both are equally Punishable(!)

According to  Mr.Sasmal, IIC,  of the PS  the theft came to light after villagers gathered at the community hall on October 3 to hold a meeting regarding preparations for the upcoming Dasahara Puja. When the complainant, D. Mohan Rao (50), along with other villagers opened the hall at around 6 PM, they found a 250-watt sound box missing.

On October 4, Rao submitted a written complaint at Golanthara Police Station, following which a case was registered and an investigation was launched.

During the investigation, police apprehended accused Tapan Kumar Behera (27) and recorded his statement in the presence of witnesses.

Based on the leads obtained during the investigation, police subsequently apprehended Bijuna Behera (31) and Deepak Behera (23), both residents of Daspur village.

Further investigation reportedly led police to the persons suspected of receiving the stolen property. Subrat Behera (28) and Santunu Das (27) were subsequently apprehended, and the stolen sound box was recovered from their possession.

Police arrested all five accused following due legal procedure. Tapan Kumar Behera, Bijuna Behera and Deepak Behera were arrested  with written reason under Sections 331(3)/305 of the BNS, while Subrat Behera and Santunu Das were booked under Sections 331(3)/305/317(2) of the BNS in connection with the alleged receipt of stolen property.

All  accused were forwarded to the JMFC (R) Cognizance Court, Brahmapur.
