BJP Leader Kalia Nahak Seriously Injured in Armed Attack in Ganjam

Ganjam, Sept. 29: BJP Harana Padala Mandal President Kalia Nahak was seriously injured after he was allegedly attacked with sharp-edged weapons by three persons in an isolated stretch of road between Kamashasan and Gaudagotha under Dharakote Police Station in Ganjam district on September 27.

According to preliminary information, Nahak, a resident of Gaudagotha village under Aska police limits, was returning from Aska on his motorcycle when three persons allegedly intercepted him on the isolated road and launched a sudden attack with sharp weapons.

He sustained multiple serious injuries in the assault and was reportedly found in a critical condition at the spot. Local residents rescued him and initially rushed him to Asika Hospital for treatment.

As his condition reportedly worsened, he was subsequently shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, for advanced medical care.

The incident has triggered concern in the area, particularly as Nahak is a local BJP Mandal-level office-bearer. Preliminary reports have indicated that previous enmity may have been behind the attack, while some regional reports have also pointed to the possibility of political rivalry.

 However, the exact motive behind the assault is yet to be conclusively established by the police.

The three suspected attackers reportedly fled the spot after the incident. Police have since launched an investigation and are conducting raids to trace and apprehend the persons allegedly involved in the attack.

Police are also expected to examine the circumstances leading to the assault and establish whether the incident was connected to personal enmity, political rivalry, or any other dispute.
