Burglary and Mobile Theft Gang Busted in Brahmapur; 13 Stolen Phones Recovered

BRAHMAPUR, Sept. 17: Badabazar Police have busted a burglary and mobile-theft gang in Brahmapur with the arrest of one adult and apprehension of two juveniles, recovering 13 stolen mobile handsets in connection with Badabazar PS Case No. 678 dated September 11, 2026, registered under Sections 331(4)/305(a) of the BNS.

The case relates to a burglary reported from a construction-site rest room near the Cyber Police Station on Aska Road. During the night of September 9, as many as eight mobile phones were allegedly stolen from the premises.

A complaint was subsequently lodged by Aditya Narayan Sahu on September 11.

During the investigation, police identified Subham Tarini (18) of Kuthari Mandira Sahi under Badabazar police limits as an accused. He was arrested and forwarded to the court.

Police also apprehended two juveniles—one aged 17 years and another aged 14 years, both residents of Ganesh Nagar Main Road, Old Brahmapur. They were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, Brahmapur, on September 16.

According to police, interrogation of the accused led to the detection of the Aska Road burglary as well as their alleged involvement in other mobile-theft incidents.

The 13 recovered handsets include mobile phones of brands such as Vivo, Samsung, OPPO, Redmi, Itel, Nokia and iQOO.

Police said the 17-year-old juvenile has 19 previous cases to his name, while the 14-year-old juvenile has three previous cases, according to the investigation records.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the full extent of the gang’s involvement and trace any other stolen property.
