Baidyanathpur Police Recover Stolen Mobile Phone and Rs 60,000; Property Returned to Victim

Brahmapur,(12/09/26):In a successful investigation against mobile theft and financial fraud, Baidyanathpur Police have arrested the accused, recovered the stolen mobile phone along with the entire amount of Rs 60,000, and returned the property to the victim today.

Mrs. Suprabha Swain (50), wife of Souri Swain and a resident of Satanala under Kodala Police Station in Ganjam district, had visited Brahmanagar 1st Lane, Brahmapur, on May 21, 2026, for a medical check-up. During the visit, a miscreant stole her mobile phone.

The accused then accessed her PhonePe application through the stolen device and withdrew and transferred Rs 60,000 from her bank account. She lodged a written complaint at Baidyanathpur Police Station on July 14, 2026.

The Inspector-in-Charge of Baidyanathpur Police Station led the investigation. Through technical analysis and tracking, police identified and arrested the accused. The stolen mobile phone and the full amount of Rs 60,000 were recovered from his possession. Legal proceedings have been initiated against him.

On September 12, 2026, the recovered mobile phone and cash of Rs 60,000 were officially handed over to Mrs. Suprabha Swain.

The complainant expressed her gratitude to Brahmapur Police for the prompt intervention and recovery of her hard-earned money.
