Badabazar Police Crack Night Housebreaking Case; Minor Apprehended, Stolen Ornaments Recovered

Brahmapur, September 11, 2026: Badabazar Police have solved a night-time housebreaking and theft case within 24 hours of receiving the complaint, apprehending a 17-year-old child and recovering several items allegedly stolen from a residence in Brahmapur.

The case was registered at Badabazar Police Station as Case No. 676 dated September 10, 2026, under Sections 331(4)/305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to the complaint, Santosh Behera, a resident of Veddas Apartment near Prem Nagar 7th Lane, Brahmapur, reported that an intruder allegedly entered his house during the intervening night of September 9 while the family members were asleep. Silver ornaments, cash and mobile phones were reportedly stolen from the residence.

Following the complaint, Badabazar Police launched an investigation under the direction of the IIC. ASI Sunil Kumar Parida led the investigation team.

Police examined CCTV footage collected from the locality, which allegedly helped investigators identify and trace the suspect’s movements before and after the incident. Acting on the investigation inputs, police conducted targeted raids at suspected locations and apprehended a 17-year-old child on September 11.

During the investigation, police reportedly recovered three silver chains, two pairs of silver anklets and rolled-gold ornaments allegedly connected with the theft. A black cotton jacket, which police suspect was worn during the commission of the offence to conceal the identity of the person involved, was also seized as evidence.

As the apprehended person is a minor, police produced the child before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), Brahmapur, for proceedings in accordance with law, including care, observation and rehabilitation measures.

Police said the child had allegedly figured in multiple previous cases registered at Badabazar and Brahmapur Town police stations. Further investigation into the present case and the child’s alleged involvement in previous incidents is continuing.

The recovery of stolen property and apprehension of the minor within a short period has been described by police as a significant breakthrough in the case.
