Sadar Police Arrest Two in Attempted Murder Case; Firearm and Weapons Seized

Berhampur, September 8, 2026:Brahmapur Sadar Police have arrested two persons in connection with a violent assault and alleged attempt-to-murder case reported on SH-17 near Dakhinapur village.
Police also seized a pistol, live ammunition and other weapons during the investigation.
The case has been registered as B. Sadar PS Case No. 141 dated 17.03.2026 under Sections 126(2)/115(2)/118(1)/109/61(2)/191(3)/111/3(5) of the BNS, read with Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.
Two Arrested
The arrested persons have been identified as:
Rama Krushna Nahak alias Bulu (39), son of Prakash Chandra Nahak of Dakhinapur village under Brahmapur Sadar Police Station.
Paresh Lenka alias Papu (25), son of late Tukuna Lenka of Chanchadapalli under Digapahandi Police Station.
Attack on SH-17;According to police, on March 17, 2026, at around 1:30 PM, Nilamadhaba Sahu alias Bhabani and his friend Amir Kunda were intercepted near Dakhinapur while travelling on SH-17.
Police said the incident was allegedly linked to a previous rivalry and territorial dispute. The accused allegedly attacked the two men with swords and choppers and rammed their motorcycle with a car.
During the incident, the car allegedly struck another motorcycle carrying a woman pillion rider, who died at the spot. The two targeted victims sustained serious bleeding injuries and were shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur, for treatment.
The accused allegedly fled from the spot after taking a motorcycle from the locality.
Firearm and Vehicles Seized;During the investigation, police arrested Rama Krushna Nahak alias Bulu on September 7, 2026. A pistol and two live cartridges were allegedly recovered from his possession and seized.
Based on information provided during investigation, police also seized the Baleno car bearing registration number OD 02 CQ 2415, allegedly used in the incident, along with a sword. A Royal Enfield Bullet bearing registration number OD 07 AN 8999 had also been seized earlier.
Police Probe Into Criminal Network;Police said interrogation and investigation revealed that Rama Krushna Nahak allegedly has a history of involvement in serious criminal cases, including a double-murder case, and was allegedly operating an organised criminal syndicate.
According to police, the March 17 attack was allegedly a premeditated conspiracy involving other associates, with the purported objective of eliminating a rival.
Both accused have been arrested and forwarded to the Hon’ble Court. Further investigation into the case and the involvement of other associates is continuing.
