Sitakunda in Bonda Valley Set for a Major Transformation: Malkangiri Collector Reviews Development Works

Malkangiri, August 21, 2026:The district administration has taken a major initiative for the comprehensive development of Sitakunda at Mudulipada in the famous Bonda Valley of Malkangiri district, with the objective of promoting tourism while preserving the site’s natural beauty.

Malkangiri Collector Prathamesh Arvind Rajeshirke personally visited Sitakunda and held an important discussion with local officials on strengthening tourism infrastructure and protecting the area’s scenic environment. He directed the officials concerned to expedite the various development works currently underway in the area.

Emphasising the natural beauty and tourism potential of Sitakunda, the Collector instructed officials to take all necessary measures for the development of supporting infrastructure and ensure the speedy implementation of the proposed projects. Senior district administration officials were present during the visit and review meeting, where the broad roadmap for the development initiatives was discussed.

Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Bedabar Pradhan and Chief Development Officer-cum-Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad Dasharathi Sarabu accompanied the Collector and reviewed the progress of the works and related arrangements. Project Administrator of the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) Haldhar Sabar also participated in the meeting and presented the outline of the proposed development project.

Among others, the Khairput Block Development Officer and the head of the Bonda Development Agency, which works specifically for the welfare of the Bonda tribal community, were present and submitted reports on the schemes proposed for implementation.

The Collector laid special emphasis on harnessing Sitakunda’s tourism potential to improve the economic condition of the local Bonda community and create employment opportunities for the residents. It is expected that these initiatives will significantly transform the tourism landscape of Bonda Valley in the coming days and bring substantial benefits to the people of the region.
