Malkangiri Collector Shows Humanity, Rushes Accident Victim to Hospital in His Own Vehicle

MALKANGIRI, AUGUST 18, 2026: In a commendable display of humanity and promptness, Malkangiri Collector Prathamesh Arvind Rajshirke,IAS, personally rushed a critically injured accident victim to the hospital in his own official vehicle after finding him lying in a pool of blood on the roadside.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening on the Malkangiri–Korukonda road when a pickup van allegedly collided with a motorcycle. The motorcyclist, identified as Ganesh Nayak, sustained serious injuries and was found lying on the roadside in a critical condition.
Some local residents immediately informed the ambulance service. However, as the ambulance was reportedly taking time to arrive, the situation became critical.
Meanwhile, Collector Prathamesh Arvind Rajshirke was returning from Chitrakonda when he noticed a crowd gathered at the accident spot. He immediately stopped his vehicle, assessed the situation and, without waiting for the ambulance, personally arranged to transport the injured Ganesh to the hospital in his own vehicle.
Before reaching the hospital, the Collector also instructed the medical team to remain prepared for the emergency. As soon as the injured person arrived, the medical team immediately began treatment.
According to Chief District Medical Officer Dr. Abid Hussain, Ganesh had suffered severe blood loss and was undergoing treatment. His condition remains critical and he is yet to be declared out of danger.
Malkangiri Superintendent of Police Binod Patil was also present at the hospital.
The Collector’s prompt intervention and humanitarian gesture have earned widespread appreciation from the local people. His action has been hailed as an example of compassion, responsibility and administrative sensitivity towards a person in distress.
