Cousin Arrested in Alleged Forgery and Fraud Case at Berhampur Cement Pole Factory

Berhampur, August 18, 2026: Baidyanathpur Police have arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with Baidyanathpur PS Case No. 388, dated July 27, 2026, registered under Sections 316(5), 318(4), 336(3), 340(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The arrested accused has been identified as Saroj Kumar Sahu (32), son of Subash Chandra Sahu, of Sundi Sahi, Ankuli, Berhampur. He is reportedly a cousin of the complainant.

Complainant and Background

The complainant, Maniraj Sahu, son of Biswanath Sahu, a resident of Sundi Sahi, Ankuli, is the proprietor of Global Enterprises Cement Pole Factory at Ankuli, Berhampur. The factory manufactures and supplies cement poles, boundary walls and other cement products.

According to police, Saroj Kumar Sahu, who was unemployed at the time, approached his cousin seeking employment. Considering their close family relationship, Maniraj Sahu appointed him as a Supervisor in 2021 on a monthly salary of Rs.9,000.

Initially, the accused allegedly performed his duties satisfactorily and gained the confidence of the proprietor.

Alleged Financial Irregularities and Forgery

Police said that the complainant later received information from other factory employees regarding alleged irregularities and forgery in the factory’s financial transactions. Initially, the complainant reportedly overlooked the allegations due to their family relationship.

However, on March 14, 2026, the complainant allegedly noticed factory materials being transported to an unknown destination without his knowledge or authorization. Suspecting financial and material irregularities, he subsequently examined the factory’s receipt books and money receipts.

During verification, several entries were allegedly found bearing forged signatures purportedly made in the name of the complainant.

Based on the written complaint and evidence gathered during the investigation, Baidyanathpur Police arrested Saroj Kumar Sahu.

Police said that further investigation is underway to ascertain the full extent of the alleged financial irregularities, forgery and unauthorized removal of factory materials.
