Habitual Offender, Antisocial, Gambling Organiser Krishna Arrested in Golanthara(!!)
Police Seized from his possession’, Samsung Smartphone, Suzuki Burgman Scooty Sent to Court.
Berhampur, July 22: In a major crackdown on illegal gambling and antisocial activities, Golanthara Police arrested a notorious gambling organiser and habitual offender following a raid on an illegal gambling den near Jhatipadar village.
According to police, a special team from Golanthara Police Station conducted a raid on the gambling den on July 19, 2026. On spotting the police from a distance, the gamblers attempted to flee.
The police team immediately chased the suspects and succeeded in apprehending the kingpin of the gambling operation, M. Krishna alias Krishnaya (40), son of M. Sasathi, a resident of Ambagan village under Jarada Police Station.
During the operation, police seized a Samsung smartphone and a white Suzuki Burgman scooter (Registration No. OD-07-BF-3339) from the possession of the accused.
A case has been registered at Golanthara Police Station as Case No. 271 dated July 19, 2026, under Sections 296(b), 115(2), 109, 221, 132 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), read with Section 3 of the Odisha Prevention of Gambling Act.
Police investigation revealed that Krishna is a habitual offender with an extensive criminal record spanning more than 15 years. He has previously been involved in multiple cases registered under various provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including offences relating to attempt to murder, criminal intimidation, extortion, assault, outraging the modesty of women, unlawful assembly, and gambling.
Following his arrest, the accused was produced before the Hon’ble Court and remanded to judicial custody. Police said the investigation is continuing to identify and apprehend other persons who fled during the raid.
Berhampur Police reiterated their commitment to taking stringent action against illegal gambling dens and antisocial elements to ensure peace, public safety and the maintenance of law and order across the district.
