Youth Arrested for Assault, Criminal Intimidation Near Bauri Sukunda
Brahmapur, July 22: Bada Bazar Police have arrested a 26-year-old youth in connection with an alleged case of assault, criminal intimidation and wrongful restraint near Bauri Sukunda on the Sukunda Main Road.
According to police, the case was registered as Bada Bazar Police Station Case No. 537/2026, dated July 21, under Sections 126(2), 109(1), 296, 351(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), based on a written complaint lodged by Sankar Charan Dakua.
The complainant alleged that on July 20 at around 10:00 p.m., while riding his motorcycle towards Berhampur, he was intercepted by two persons near Kora Bandha, Bauri Sukunda.
The accused allegedly abused him in obscene language and hurled a stone and a wine bottle at him with the intention of causing injury.
Fearing for his safety, Sankar Charan Dakua abandoned his motorcycle and ran from the spot. The accused allegedly chased him and threatened to kill him before fleeing.
During the investigation, police identified one of the accused as Akash Das alias Gandu (26), son of Bikram Das of Hinjalapalli village under Golanthara Police Station. Police said he, along with another associate, wrongfully restrained the complainant, assaulted him by throwing a stone and a wine bottle, and issued life threats.
Akash Das was arrested on July 21 at 11:40 p.m. and was produced before the court on July 22. Police said efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining accused, and further investigation into the case is continuing.
