Unable to fix vehicle issues even after taking it to Jeypore 5 times in 14 months & keeping the car more than 50 days. Vehicle owner facing financial loss, humiliation and mental duress

If the vehicle is not exchanged, vehicle owner threatens to give an indefinite sit-in dharna in front of Rayagada showroom.

Raygada, June 19: Ajay Rath, a resident of Rayagada town, bought a Tata Tiago from Tata showroom of Jaypore’s Lankeswari Motors branch located at Katapeta on April 14, 2025 with a bank loan. Since the AC was not cooling properly since the day of purchase, he complained verbally to Srikant Patnaik, who is in charge of Katapeta branch. Then after complaining to Tata customer service, Srikant promised to fix it in the first servicing.

After the car was first serviced in Bhubaneswar on June 13, 2025 at Srikshetra Automotive, the owner came to know that Lankeswari Motors had sold the car without a Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI). The owner complained after learning that no PDI had been done. After receiving the complaint, the seller hurriedly did it in Jeypore after 2 months of selling the car, i.e. on June 16, 2025 while the car was with the owner at Rayagada. As per the rules, the car should be inspected before sale. By doing this, if any problem is found after all kinds of inspection of the vehicle, there is a rule to fix it and give it to the customer. Due to not doing this, the car owner is now suffering from financial loss along with mental stress & humiliation. Lankeswari Motors is unable to fix the AC issue even after 14 months of purchasing the vehicleeven after keeping the car in Jeypore for more than 50 days. After running 16 thousand kilometers, the front wheel drum started making a strange noise and the owner had to replace it and bear the loss of Rs.6777 as unnecessary expenses.

Recently again, for the 5th time, Rayagada branch’s Srikant Patnaik has sent the vehicle to Lankeswari Motors in Jeypore for the same problem. When Srikant Patnaik was asked how long the guarantee would be for the permanent remedy after bringing the back, he fumled and was not affirmative. As a result, due to repeated such problems, the owner Rath is under mental duress and is found to be suffering financial losses by taking private vehicle on rent while going out for contractor’s work. Rath has expressed that he has completely lost faith in the Tata Tiago vehicle he bought.

Finally Rath has appealed to several Tata Company’s authorities to exchange the car and provide another new car. If the vehicle is not exchanged, then he will take the shelter of social media, other media and consumer court. He has even threatened to peacefully lodge an indefinite protest in front of Tata Motors Lankeswari Katapeta. He has even met the MVI in RTO office and informed that several violations are meted out by Lankeswari Motors in establishing an authorized sales centre of Tata Motors.
