Berhampur Town PS arrests accused for submitting forged affidavit and criminally intimidating complainant

Berhampur,( 0/-6/26): In connection with Berhampur Town Police Station Case No. 74 dated 18.02.2026 under Sections 126(2)/296/351(2)/336(2)/338/340 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the accused person Binayak Sukla (55 years), son of Late Sudhakar Sukla, resident of Bada Sahi, Bijipur, Berhampur, PS-Berhampur Town, has been arrested on 03.06.2026 and forwarded to the Court of competent jurisdiction.
The case was registered on the complaint of Surendra Prasad Shukla (62 years), son of Late Sudhakar Shukla, of the same address, in connection with a landed property dispute with his brothers including the accused.
During investigation, it was ascertained that the accused Binayak Sukla, while applying for a new electric connection to TPSODL, had prepared and submitted a Notary Affidavit / No Objection Certificate dated 28.01.2026. In the said affidavit, the signatures of 6 other family members Surendra Prasad Shukla, Minakhi Sukla, Sanjeev Sukla, Biraja Sukla, Baljeet Sukla and Salma Priyadarshini Shukla were forged by the accused without their consent or knowledge. His purpose was to get the electric connection in his name so as to disposes the property from other heirs.
On 07.02.2026 at about 04.30 PM accused verbally abused Sujata Sukla (50 years), wife of the complainant, and their daughter Subhadra Sukla by using obscene language. In the absence of other family members, the accused unlawfully and forcibly disconnected the inverter power supply to his room and also threatened the complainant with dire consequences.
Relevant documents including the forged affidavit and records pertaining to power supply from TPSODL, Berhampur have been seized during investigation.
The investigation of the case is continuing.
