Berhampur:K. Nuagaon Police arrested three persons following a dispute at village Bholasingi over the installation of a bell at Lord Laxmi Nursinghnath Temple.

The dispute originated when Anila Sahu donated an 11.5 KG brass bell engraved with his name to the temple. The temple committee members,  refused to hang the bell due to differences. This led to serious tension and a series of previous cross cases between both parties.

On 14.05.2026 night at around 10:00 PM, Swapna Kumari Sahu (wife of Anila Sahu) went to the house of Laxmikanta Panigrahy and abused him, resulting in a quarrel and assault involving Srihari Panigrahy, Subham Panigrahy and Anila Sahu.

On 16.05.2026, in a  retaliatory incident, Anila Sahu and his associates abused and physically assaulted Laxmikanta Panigrahy on the village road again. Both parties were found to be under the influence of alcohol during the incident (confirmed by breath analyser at the police station).
