ARREST OF A MAN IN CYBER SEXTORTION AND CRIMINAL TRESPASS

Berhampur,( 22/04/26);The Berhampur Cyber Crime & Economic Offences Police Station has successfully apprehended an individual involved in the non-consensual distribution of private images on social media and subsequent criminal extortion and intimidation.
A press note issued by ASP-1 (in charge of SP), Berhampur Police District (for SP, stated that, On April 20, 2026, a victim from Berhampur area not mention filed a formal report against a man for violating her privacy and safety.
The details of the man turned as accused Sumanta Nahak (28 years), of Village ,B. Totapalli, under Chamakhandi, police station District: Ganjam.
The accused allegedly circulated the victim’s private photographs on various social media platforms without her consent. It is noted that a previous settlement and a written undertaking were provided by the accused at the Baidyanathpur Police Station on 11.04.2026. However, the accused resumed his offensive activities again on 13.04.2026.
Further, the release added said, beyond digital harassment, the accused sent life-threatening messages via WhatsApp and twice committed criminal trespass at the victim’s rented residence in Ankuli with the intent to cause physical harm.
Following a swift investigation, the police successfully tracked and arrested the accused on Wednesday at 14:00 Hrs. with the legal charge of The case is registered (Case no-. 30, Dt. 20.04.2026); under relevant sections of the BharatiyaNyayaSanhita 66(E), 67, 67(A), and 67(B). and seized One mobile handset used in the commission of the crime has been confiscated for forensic analysis.
