Bhubaneswar,25/March,2026: Odisha’s Crime Branch has cracked open one of the state’s biggest online investment frauds, arresting a 36‑year‑old man from Kolkata accused of duping an investor of Rs 12.33 crore through a fake trading platform.

The accused, Rahul Jaiswal, an MBA graduate from Maniktala in Kolkata, allegedly lured the victim via WhatsApp messages posing as stock market consultants.

Investigators said the fraudsters built trust with fabricated tips and testimonials before convincing the complainant to install a bogus trading app. Between August and September 2025, the victim transferred over Rs 12 crore across nine accounts in 52 transactions. When he tried to withdraw funds, the so‑called “risk control team” blocked his requests, prompting an FIR.
