CYCLONE AMPHAN IN ODISHA;PM MODI ANNOUNCES RS 500 Crs ADVANCE ASSISTANCE

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday conducted an aerial survey in coastal districts of Odisha to take stock of the damage caused by cyclone Amphan.

He was accompanied by Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal and Chief Minister of Odisha  Naveen Patnaik, with Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Pratap Sarangi.

Earlier, Modi had tweeted: “My thoughts are with the people of Odisha as the state bravely battles the effects of Cyclone Amphan. Authorities are working on the ground to ensure all possible assistance to the affected. “I pray that the situation normalises at the earliest.”.

After holding an administrative meeting here in Airport conference hall  the Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the financial assistance Rs 500 crore  to Cyclone Amphan-hit Odisha.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal,  Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Pratap Sarangi and senior officials from the State were present in the meeting.

The Union Government will further help Odisha government and make rest of the arrangements to come out of this crisis, after the complete survey and the formation of a rehabilitation plan, PM Modi said.
