UNION HEALTH MINISTER HARSH VARDHAN TO HOLD THE CHAIRMAN OF WHO

DELHI:It is a pride moment for India that Harsh Vardhan, the health Minister of India is going to be appointed as Chairman of the Executive Board, WHO on May22, officially declared. He has been successfully managing the pandemic Corona in India and very much pro active in handling and supervising the things to contain Covid-19. Result is we have less casualties because of corona in comparison to many developed countries. Taking into consideration of his acumen, WHO has appointed him which he would succeed Dr.Hiroki Nakatani of Japan heading the board of 34 members to WHO Executive Board. This proposal of appointing him as chairman was signed by 194-nation World Health Assembly on Tuesday. This post is held in rotation every year among regional groups. The decision to nominate him unanimously was decided last year in the WHO’s South-East Asia group to the executive board for three-year term starting from this May. This appointment is not a full time assignment. This board convenes two meetings in a year one in January and the other one in May.
