Berhampur Police arrested three persons on Tuesday for allegedly deceiving among job seekers from Ganjam district, swindling above Rs1,15,000000Crs. (One Crore Fifteen Lakhs) from Ganjam District only. by falsely promising them employment opportunities

The accused, identified as ;
1. Smrutiprabha Mohankud(33), D/o-Bharat Ch. Mohankud, of Patanamishrapur, Kounisdshi, PS-Nayakanidihi, Dist-Bhadraka
2. Nirupama Mohanty(43), W/o-Krushna Ch. Mohanty of Kotharsing, PS-Golanthara, Dist-Ganjam
3. Prasanta Kumar Behera(43), S/o-Late Dibakar Behera, of vill-Gadahumma, PS-Rambha, Dist-Ganjam, At/Pr-Pristine Green, Plot No.307, PS-Airport UPD BBSR, Dist-Khurda
Police has seized, Fake appointment certificates, cash receipt slips and other registers from their possession.
In connection a case registered against the trio U/s. case No.636 dt.29.12.2025 U/s.318(4)/3(5) BNS
The investigation report according to police release that, The principal accused Smrutiprabha Mahankuda is the trust head of one Shree Jagannath Human Empowerment Trust which has been registered through an NGO DARPAN portal vide organisation Unique Id OR/2025/0527656.
The main office of said Shree Jagannath Human Empowerment Trust Vide Reg. No. 1132500362 B-79 runs at BDA, Duplex Colony, Beramunda, Bhubaneswar but many branch offices are opened at different districts of Odisha. Here in Berhampur the branch office of Shree Jagannath Human Empowerment Trust was functioning at Engineering school road, Near Jagabalia Hotel in the month September 2024 till May 2025.
Accused Prasanta Kumar Behera is designated as Trust State head, accused Nirupama Mohanty is designated as the District Head trainer for Ganjam District. Similarly, Subhendu Mohapatra is designated as the Zonal Head, Biswamohana Pattnaik is designated as District Head for Ganjam District. By showing the trust certificate the accused persons managed to collect money from different district and blocks by giving false assurance of job in the post of Data Assistant, Multi Taskings staff, Arogya Mitra, Junior Assistant and other posts in each block with eye catching monthly remuneration.
During investigation it is found that the accused collected money from the unemployed youth each head minimum of Rs. 12,500/- and based on the gravity of the post they also collected cash Rs. 20,000/- from others. They collected cash Rs. 12,500/- each from around 800 candidates all total 75,00,000/- and cash of Rs.20,000/- each from 200 candidates all total 40,00,000/-. Total of Rs.1,15,00000/- (One Crore Fifteen Lakhs) from Ganjam District only.
To gain the faith of the candidate who paid money the accused persons issued fake appointment certificates to them. In this way they collected huge amount of money from the innocent general public by giving false assurance of job.
After collecting money, accused persons maintained Luxurious liefstyle and absconded from the locality. The accused persons also created some fake agencies i.e Swapneswari Agency, Ayushman Arogya Mandir and issued appointment certificates to the candidates to earn their trust.
