Berhampur Cyber PS Recovers Rs. 1,67,000/- in an Cybercrime case

Berhampur,( 30/12/25): On 08.07.2025 a female victim from Berhampur who is working in a Private Bank reported at the Cyber Crime PS, Berhampur that on 4.7.2025 She received a call to her Whatsapp in Which The Fraudster Informed her that he is a bonfire Customer Of their Bank having their Account in the name of Janapriya Developer and asked her the formalities for Fixed Deposit of 2 Crores and requested to send Rs10,65,000/- through RTGS to a given Account from their Bank Account for which in Good Faith she sent a sum of Rs.7,70,161/- from her personal Bank Account on 3/5.7.2025.
Eventually, she realized that she had been duped of Rs.7,70,161/- by the fraudster using multiple WhatsApp numbers and false identities. She realized it was a scam and lodged an FIR. The case is currently under investigation.
INVESTIGATION AND RECOVERY OF MONEY :
After analyzing the transaction details and working upon other digital evidences Cyber police team successfully hold/lien Rs.4,40,000/- in 11 accounts of the fraudster. After getting the orders of Hon’ble Court a sum of Rs.1,67,000/- credited to the account of the complainant/victim by the concerned Banks. Steps being taken for return of rest hold/lien amount to the account of the complainant.
