Year-Round Safety Training Powers TPSODL’s Zero Harm Mission

Berhampur, December: TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) has reiterated its unwavering commitment to safety by ensuring year-round training for its employees and business associates across Southern Odisha. Believing firmly that consumer safety begins with a well-trained workforce, the company continues to invest in strengthening the knowledge, skill and preparedness of its field and operational teams. This approach directly aligns with TPSODL’s broader objective of delivering safe, reliable electricity and achieving its long-term Zero Harm vision.

TPSODL operates 16 TSSDI (TPSODL Safety and Skill Development Institute) centres and 2 state-of-the-art HoTT (Hands on Technical Training) centres across its license area, forming a robust training ecosystem for employees at all levels. As of November in the year 2025–26, a total of 42,235 employees  including BA personnel and regular staff —, have been trained. The company expects a higher scale of capacity -building in the coming year, reflecting its sustained focus on safety enhancement. Two HoTT Centre are operational to its full capacity at Berhampur and Phulbani. Another two HoTT Centres are under set up at Jeypore and Rayagada Circle.

The training modules at TPSODL are designed to build competence, capability and confidence among employees. Sessions cover a wide range of topics, including electrical safety, technical understanding, behavioural aspects, ethics and hands-on practical learning. Training durations range from half-day to two-day formats, depending on the topic and requirement, enabling employees to perform their roles safely, responsibly and efficiently, particularly during consumer-facing work.

A distinctive feature of TPSODL’s training framework is the use of Virtual Reality (VR) technology. These immersive VR modules allow trainees to experience real field situations in a simulated, risk-free environment, enabling them to better understand hazardous scenarios and learn the correct response mechanisms.

Additionally, the centres are equipped with practice yards featuring non-electrified deadlines and miniature line structures. These setups provide realistic, on-ground training conditions without compromising safety. Structured training pathways have also been developed for various categories of employees includingunskilled and skilled workers, regular staff, supervisors, and department -specific functions. The training programmes are led by experienced trainers, dignitaries and subject experts who mentor employees throughout the process.
