Irregularities on Tax Collection by Paralakhemundi Municipality

Paralakhemundi- At Paralakhemundi Municipality of Gajapati distrtax, huge amount of tax collection still pending. That focussed on callousness nor stringent action by authorities on tax collection. From business zones lakhs still pending. From 44 government & private sectors about 10 lakhs of holding tax pending.As per information on 2022   73 lakhs, on 2023 92  lakhs, on 2024 95 lakhs collected.Till date of 2025 about 70 lakhs collected.So those having liabilities like business magnets no serious action has been taken.So that hampers on scavengers & contractual staff salary, other construction or repair works like road & drains.While interacted to Executive Officer Laxman Kumar Murmu he said,as per bench mark 2017 tax collected.Some domestic tax payers have their willings to pay in time.Still notice circulated to defaulters particularly those firms.Development Officer given responsibilities on collections.Due to lack of sufficient staff some para workers given responsibilities to collect tax.
