Berhampur Police Catch-up absconding Pimp after two Years from Chennai

Odisha: Berhampur(16/12/25): Baidyanathpur Police official on Tuesday arrested Dharmendra Pradhan@Sudam a pimp from Chennnai and recovered Wearing apparels. The accused had been absconding for more than two years and was wanted by Berhampur Baidhyanathpur Police.
On the strength of on the written report of the complainant/victim, the instant case was registered. as the case involved provisions of the SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.1st,June,2023, U/s-376(2)(n)/507 IPC/ Sec. 3(1)(r )(s)/3(2)(va) of SC & ST(POA) Act.
The accused was reconfirmed identified as; Dharmendra Pradhan(27) @ Sudam, S/o- Udaya Pradhan of Dhia Sahi, Fulta, PS- Nimakhandi. and police have seized theWearing apparels and biological sample of both accused and victim.
Today, in a release Berhampur Superintendent ofPolice Dr.Sarvana Vivek,M,communicated to scribe of Berhampur that, Investigation revealed that about two years before the complaint accused Dharmendra Pradhan @ Sudam came in contact with the complainant at a mobile repairing shop and, on false assurances of providing employment, frequently visited her residence.
Taking advantage of her vulnerability, he forcibly established repeated sexual relations with her and threatened to kill her minor son if she disclosed the matter. The accused also abused her by making caste-based remarks, thereby humiliating her.
About one month prior to the complaint, he forcibly took away her mobile phone and spread false rumours about her among her relatives, causing social humiliation.
On further investigation, it was ascertained that the accused was residing at an undisclosed location within the city of Chennai.
Police team was able to apprehend the accused person from Chennai. On the basis of prima facie evidence, offences punishable under Sections 376(2)(n) and 507 IPC, read with Sections 3(1)(r), 3(1)(s), and 3(2)(va) of the SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, are well established against accused Dharmendra Pradhan @ Sudam, S/o Uday Pradhan, of Diha Sahi, Phulta, P.S. Nimakhnadi.
Accordingly, the above named accused was arrested on 14.12.2025 from Chennai and produced before the Hon’ble 18th Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Saidapeta, Chennai and brought in transit remand for producing him before the jurisdictional Court at Berhampur.
Under the facts and circumstances of the case, Today, 16/12/25 the above-named accused was produced before the Hon’ble Court.
