Brahampur : Two persons have been arrested by Gosaninuagaon Police for allegedly cheating a city resident of ₹45.51 lakh by showing forged documents and fake land papers. The accused have been identified as Dillip Kumar Pasupallo (55) of Nilakanthnagar 1st Lane Extension and Pradeep Panigrahi (62) of Badriraja Nagar 3rd Lane, both under Gosaninuagaon police limits.
According to police sources, a case has been registered at Gosaninuagaon Police Station (Case No. 414 dated 01.11.2025) under sections 318(4)/338/336(3)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) on the written complaint of Santosh Kumar Satapathy (65), a resident of Jyoti Nagar 5th Lane, Berhampur.
As per the complaint, the victim was introduced by one Jayaram Nayak of Kanishi village, who offered to sell him a plot of 10 bharana land located in front of the TATA plant gate. On June 4, 2024, Satapathy visited the office of Dillip Pasupallo at Hillpatana 3rd Lane, where he was shown documents including the pata, map, and agreement papers. Believing the documents to be genuine, Satapathy paid an advance amount of ₹45 lakh 51 thousand through Pradeep Panigrahi, said to be a partner of Pasupallo.
However, despite repeated requests, the accused neither returned the money nor handed over the land, leading the complainant to realize that he had been cheated with forged documents.
During investigation, police seized several incriminating documents including the trace map, pata, agreement papers, and eight money receipts given by the accused. Both the accused have been arrested and will be forwarded to the Hon’ble Court of SDJM, Berhampur, police said.
