Artists’ Audition Open for the 78th Bargarh Dhanuyatra

Bargarh: Preparations for the world‑renowned Bargarh Dhanu yatra, celebrated as the world’s largest open‑air theatre, have officially begun. The Additional District Magistrate and Vice‑Chairman of the Dhanu Yatra Mahotsav Committee has issued a notification inviting artists to audition for various roles in the 78th Bargarh Dhanu Yatra Mahotsav, with applications open from October 18 to November 1.

Artists can apply for key mythological roles such as Maharaja Kamsa, Mahamantri, Satyaki, Mustik, Akroor, Ugrasena, Basudev, Devaki, Narad, and Senapati. Application forms are available on the official Bargarh district website https://bargarh.odisha.gov.in and the Dhanuyatra portal https//bargarhdhanuyatra.in, with both online and offline submission options.

According to the committee’s announcement, artists may apply for up to two roles and must have prior experience performing in open‑air theatre without scripts.

While selected participants must cover their own travel costs, they may attend auditions in costume at their own expense. Notably, those chosen for the festival will be barred from performing in other Dhanu Yatras during the same period.
