Berhampur Police Nab 2 From Bihar Including Sharpshooter in Pitabas Panda Killing
Berhampur: In a major breakthrough in the murder of senior advocate and BJP leader Pitabas Panda, Berhampur Police have arrested two suspects from Bihar on Wednesday.
According to reports, one of them is believed to be the sharpshooter who fired the fatal shot, while the other allegedly surveyed the area before the attack.
The arrests followed days of coordinated surveillance across Bihar, Delhi, and Kolkata. A special team from Berhampur tracked the suspects to Bihar and brought them back to Odisha for interrogation late Wednesday night. This marks a significant step forward in the investigation. Police sources say the operation is part of a broader multi-state probe to uncover the network behind the killing.
Meanwhile, Berhampur Police continue to question a close associate of Panda and a local businessman. Both had frequent contact with the slain lawyer and are being interrogated for the fifth time. Investigators believe they may hold key information about the motive and mastermind.
On Oct 6 night, Panda was shot at point-blank range near his residence. He was rushed to hospital but declared dead on arrival.
