Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday reviewed the state’s law-and-order situation and said the condition in Cuttack, which witnessed a clash during Durga Puja, has largely returned to normal. He directed senior police officers to maintain strict vigilance on mischief-makers and antisocial elements to prevent any recurrence of violence.

The Chief Minister cautioned that certain groups were attempting to malign Odisha’s image with malicious intent and urged police authorities to take firm and exemplary action against those responsible. He stressed that complacency should be avoided despite the calm returning to Cuttack and directed that adequate force deployment and regular patrolling continue in all sensitive zones to ensure peace.

Following the improvement in the situation, the state government lifted the internet ban and curfew imposed in Cuttack. However, senior police officers have been instructed to maintain close coordination with community leaders and sustain efforts to restore communal harmony.

Majhi reiterated that offenders must face the full force of the law and that stringent action would be taken against anyone disturbing public order. His directives underline the government’s focus on safeguarding public safety and preserving communal peace across Odisha.
