Class-II Girl Spends Night Locked In Classroom, Rescued With Head Stuck In Window

Keonjhar: An eight-year-old Class-II student was left locked inside her classroom at a government primary school in Odisha’s Keonjhar district and had to spend the entire night trapped inside.

The incident occurred at the Government Upper Primary School in Anjar under Banspal block on Thursday. According to reports, the girl did not return home after school, prompting her anxious family to search across the village. However, they failed to trace her.

The child, left behind in the locked classroom, reportedly tried to escape by squeezing through a window but her head got stuck in the iron grill. She remained trapped through the night until villagers discovered her the next morning when the school reopened.

The girl was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Doctors have said her condition is now stable.

Taking serious note of the matter, Keonjhar Collector Vishal Singh directed immediate action. Following his orders, the Banspal Block Education Officer (BEO) suspended in-charge headmaster Gourahari Mohanty and initiated an inquiry into the incident.
