Odisha Bans Single-Use Plastics in Govt Offices; No More Plastic Bouquets or Cups
Bhubaneswar: In a strong push toward environmental sustainability, the Odisha government has announced a complete ban on single-use plastics in all government offices across the state.
The directive was issued by Additional Chief Secretary of the Forest and Environment Department, Satyabrata Sahu, who notified departmental secretaries to enforce the ban with immediate effect.
As per the new order, commonly used plastic items such as flower bouquet covers, gift-wrapping materials, and disposable plastic cups and plates used during official meetings and events are now prohibited in government settings.
The decision is part of the state’s broader effort to curb plastic pollution and promote greener alternatives. The government has emphasized the importance of adopting eco-friendly practices within the administration, setting an example for the public and private sectors.
