Bhubaneswar,July…….., 2025 – CAMaL Ka Camp (Combined Activities for Maximized Learning), launched by Atmashakti Trust in collaboration with the Pratham Education Foundation, is igniting a joyful revolution in foundational education for Odisha’s children through interactive and community-driven learning. Aligned with the spirit of NEP 2020, the initiative blends songs, games, and storytelling to bridge persistent learning gaps among Classes 4 to 6 students. Set up 5,047 learning centers across 2,884 villages in 98 blocks of 17 districts, enabling children to learn foundational skills in a fun-filled, supportive environment.
- 6,936 village level youth volunteers were trained and deployed, ensuring active community involvement and local ownership of the learning process.
- More than 55,147 children participated in the six-week camp, receiving specially designed learning booklets. These included phonetic exercises, math and language games, and storytelling sessions to build curiosity-driven learning.
- “CAMaL Ka Camp” responds directly to findings from ASER 2024, which revealed that only 59.5% of Class 5 students in Odisha’s government schools could read a Class 2 level story text—indicating a serious gap in foundational literacy.
- The camp was conducted during summer holidays to counter learning loss and prevent academic regression, a common concern identified by teachers and parents.
- The initiative witnessed enthusiastic support from district and block-level authorities and fostered community ownership to improve learning outcomes among rural children.
Also, Atmashakti Trust is actively working across 16 districts of Odisha, with tribal and other vulnerable communities, reaching around 15 lakh families focusing on MGNREGA-linked employment, nutrition, education access, traditional, and sustainable farming systems.
“This effort to make foundational learning accessible through engaging methods is commendable. Programs like this can be a key part of our education reform efforts and pave the way for a brighter future for our children,”
