Rayagada,( 30/06/25):checking drives. These initiatives specifically target crowd management and the prevention of ticketless travel during the Car Festival (Puri Rath Yatra) rush. Joint teams, comprising Commercial Ticket Checking staff and the Railway Protection Force (RPF), have been deployed in all the trains passing over the Division. During last Thursday’s intensive ticket-checking drives, the Ticket Checking staff detected 2,030 cases of ticketless travel, irregular travel, and unbooked luggage. These resulted in the collection of approximately ₹12 lakh in fares and penalties in a single day—the highest single-day penalties realized in the current financial year. Divisional Railway Manager, Lalit Bohra, called attention to the objectives of these initiatives and advised to ensure comfortable travel of passengers and pilgrims during this Rath Yatra, enhance safety measures across all stations and in trains and punctual running of trains.
Surprise inspection of amenities and ticket checking was carried by Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Shri Saandeep in trains and at some stations. He conducted random surprise checks at the waiting halls, on platforms, catering stalls at stations, pantry cars in trains and monitored the ticket checking personally in trains. During the checks on Friday more than 1850 cases of ticketless travel or irregular travel were detected and more than Rs 11 lakhs were realized towards fare and penalty.
Saandeep appealed to passengers to maintain proper queues for convenient ticketing and to ease boarding/ alighting of trains and using digital payments with QR enabled facilities, not to carry inflammable articles and show proper ID proof on demand by the Ticket Checking Authority.
