Tribal parents donate organs of son after accident

Rayagada (Badal Tah): A young man of 24 years old named Dilli Mandangi from Regeda village in Gunupur block of Rayagada district was injured in an accident. After being treated at Kashinagar hospital, he was shifted to GEMS Medical College in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. The doctors there declared that Dilli was brain dead due to severe head injury. He was being treated for some more days in a ventilator. After the doctor said that the young man was struggling to survive, the father of the seriously ill young man, Satya Mandangi, requested the doctor to donate various organs from his son’s body. He pleaded that his son should live in the bodies of others.

On Satya’s plea, the medical authorities agreed to transplant the young man’s organs to other patients who needed them. The medical authorities conducted the procedure for donating various organs from Dilli Mandangi, who was brain dead. The body of the young man was taken to the Operation Theatre. Senior medical teams from various renowned hospitals outside were engaged in the organ transplantation. Kidneys, lungs and liver were removed from Dilli’s body. The doctor said that these organs can save the lives of six people.

The Andhra Pradesh government facilitated for the removed organs to be airlifted to KIMS Medical College in Visakhapatnam through the Green Corridor in Srikakulam, the doctor said. The medical authorities paid their last homage to the body of Dilli and handed it over to the family. The body was taken to Regeda village by the medical authorities last Monday. While the village is mourning due to the death of the young man, his family is in the news for such a great sacrifice of ​​​​donating the young man’s organs.

Gunupur MLA Satyajit Gamang reached the family and expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased youth as per the government rules. It was revealed that Dilli Palaka and Dilli Mandangi, both bosom friends, of Regeda village were going on a motorbike towards Shiali village under Kashinagar police station in Gajapati district. They met with an accident on Wednesday & Dilli Palaka died on the spot. Dilli Mandangi was rescued in a critical condition and was brought to Kashinagar hospital and then referred to GEMS Medical College.
