Berhampur,(05/05/25):Police reluctant for Encounter other hand criminal openly inviting.Encounter. Last couple of months many Vega anti social roaming over the city is in search of any type of heinous crime. Criminal adopting their Hi-tech intelligence and escaping narrowly from the Police scanner. Before commit they threaten to commuters, house to house by showing toy arm to create a chaotic situation.
Today criminals, anti-socials are the headache to Police to curb them on 04.05 .25/Ganjam Police conducted massive raid at different villages under many police station under the Ganjam SP in successfully seize huge number of mouser (Pistol),ammunition live bombs many with arrest of 20 hardcore criminals.
Addressing to scribe Mr.Niti Sekhar,I.G.P (S,R) said that, “We had information about illegal weapons being supplied in the district, which could have been misused by criminals.
Accordingly, the raids were conducted and 17 illegal firearms along with 66 rounds of live ammunition were seized. Six cases have been registered.
Further investigation is underway to identify the source of these weapons and whether these were delivered in other districts of the state, Most likely the mouser trade a common Inter-State.He further stated that special teams will soon be sent to other states to identify the suppliers and dismantle the supply chain.

Notably, the Berhampur Police district means 16 Police Stations including Mahila PS and Marine PS.

Cash Snatching:On May,23,2023 tn broad daylight two unidentified miscreants snatched Rs 4 lakh cash from a couple near Ankuli bridge under Baidyanathpur police limits.While returning home after withdrawing money from the bank .Victim Prabhakar and his wife withdrew Rs 5.20 lakh from State Bank of India at Khodasinghi and they divided the amount and kept Rs 4.5 lakh in one bag and Rs 70,000 in another bag.
In another case,on 12.06.2023, one Biswajit Ghadei(25) reported at Town PS that at about 11.00 AM near Paris Bakery Gandhi Nagar, while he was returning to his office after withdrawing Rs.2,00,00 cash from SBI Hitch Branch,Berhampur 3 unknown persons coming in 2 bikes snatched the 2 lakhs cash and fled away.
Theft and Larceny:The police have encountered cases of theft, including cases where stolen items like gold chains, cash, and vehicles have been recovered. Domestic Issues: Berhampur police have also been involved in addressing assistance to victims of abuse, threats, and harassment.
