37 lakh people yet to update KYCs for ration card eligibility: Minister Krushna Chandra Patra

The last to update the e-KYC will not be extended beyond February 15. Till now 37 lakh people are yet to verify their e-KYC for ration cards.
Bhubaneswar : The e-KYC deadline to update the ration cards will not be extended further said Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra. The deadline for updating the Know Your Customer (e-KYC) has been set to February 15. As of now 37 lakh people are yet to update e-KYC for ration card.
He further said that, strict action will be taken against the fraudulent beneficiaries who hold ration cards. He stated that, failing to update the e-KYC will be deemed as surrendering the ration cards if it is not updated within the time frame. If the pending 37 lakh people do not update e-KYC for ration cards then it will be deemed to be have been surrendered.
Shockingly, around 8 lakh income tax payers had ration cards in their names. He also said that, some had got the ration cards in order to be eligible for health cards. Such health cards will also be discarded. As of now over 20,000 government employees and influential people have returned their ration cards. It rose dramatically within two days from 12,000 to 20,000.
He has appealed to the people to return the e-KYC within February 15. He has urged the ineligible beneficiaries to surrender their ration cards and others to update and verify their eKYC. If the 6,00,000 lakh new enrollments have been done.
