Social security for differently abled & old persons: 6058 to benefit in Rayagada district

Rayagada (Badal Tah): After CM Mohan Majhi launched the payment of increased allowance of Rs.3500 for old persons of 80 years & above and persons with disabilities(PwD) of 80% & more, Rayagada Collector Parul Patawari distributed  the entitlements at Rayagada block office premises. Under the instructions of the Department of Social Security and Disability Empowerment of the Government of Odisha, this increased allowance was given in all the eleven blocks, two municipal councils & one notified area council(NAC). Out of total 6058 identified by the district administration, there are 5044 senior citizens and 1014 divyangs. In the 1st phase, 454 senior citizens above 80 years of age and 257 persons divyangs above 80% were given an allowance of Rs 3500/- each in the district. Afterwards, all the eligible persons will receive the benefits phase-wise soon, said Pushpalata Dikshit, DSSO, Rayagada.
 
Information and Public Relations Officer Basant Kumar Pradhan, BJP District President Siba Patnaik, Kaliram Majhi, ABDO-Rayagada Kalucharan Naik, BSSO-Rayagada Ranjita Behera, participated in the said distribution ceremony under Madhu Babu pension scheme. Senior Teacher Nilachal Mishra moderated the program. ADM Bhaskar Raita distributed the pension in Muniguda Block while the Chief Development Officer-Executive Officer Zilla Parishad Akshay Kumar Khemundu did it in Padmapur Block. District Social Security Officer(DSSO) Pushpalata Dixit in Bissam Cuttack Block, BDO-Kolnara Reena Pradhan, Vice-Chairman-Kolara Haladhar Himirika, Sub-ivisional SSO Srikant Panigrahi  and other concerned BDOs, Executive Officers, people’s representatives distributed the pension in other blocks and municipalities and NAC.
 
Rakesh Himirika, a 100% visually impaired &District Presidentof Odisha Vikalang Manch, applauded the efforts of present Odisha Govt under Mohan Majhi and hoped that more such efforts to be implemented by the district administration led by Collector Patawari. A jubilant Jalendra Bacheli appreciated the commitment made by Modi Govt in their election manifesto and appealed Odisha CM Mohan Majhi to extend the scheme to other Divyangs with disabilities of 40% & more. He has thanked the district administration for involving all the senior officers of the district to launch this important programme in a fruitful manner.
